Using NFC/RFID for access control

In Qomeet, access control can be carried out either via passes (QR codes printed on badges or published on participants' personal spaces) or via NFC/RFID chips (badges, cards, wristbands, etc.). To use NFC/RFID chips for access control, it is necessary to associate the NFC/RFID chips with participants via the Qomeet Access app.

Passes (QR codes) and NFC/RFID chips can be used in parallel: even if an NFC/RFID chip is associated with a participant, their QR code will still work.

In order for an operator to be able to associate NFC/RFID chips with participants, this option must be enabled in the operator's rights, in the menu Access > Operators.

Associating an NFC/RFID chip with a participant

You can associate an NFC/RFID chip with a participant using the Qomeet Access app. The operator must have the necessary rights to perform this operation. Here is the steps to follow:

  1. Initialize your control device and log in as an operator.

  1. Go to the Associate RFID chips option.

  1. Select a participant from the list, search by first/last name, or scan their pass. Participants who have already been associated with a chip are indicated by a green icon.

  1. Hold the RFID chip close to the reader and click Confirm pairing.

  1. If you try to assign a chip already in use to a new participant, you will be alerted. You will then have the choice of reassigning the chip or canceling the operation.

Dissociate an NFC/RFID chip from a participant

  1. Initialize your control device and log in as an operator.

  1. Go to the Associate RFID chips option.

  1. Select a participant from the list, search by first/last name, or scan their pass.

  1. Click on Unpair the chip.
